Aftercare notes
Candela Matrix • Nordlys Laser / IPL • Microneedling • DermaFacial
Guidance for the days after an aesthetic treatment at Meda Esthetic. All treatments are cosmetic and support the skin's own regeneration.
Is redness normal?
Yes. After Candela Matrix, Nordlys laser/IPL, microneedling or DermaFacial, mild redness, warmth or slight swelling is normal. The skin can feel like a mild sunburn. This usually settles within a few hours, sometimes over a few days.
Why do treated areas look darker?
Treated areas can look darker at first. The skin is renewing itself: over the following days the darker layer lightens or flakes off.
When do results show?
It depends on the treatment. DermaFacial: typically the same day. Nordlys laser/IPL: first response over 1–2 weeks, collagen builds over 4–8 weeks. Candela Matrix: an initial tightening right away, new collagen over 4–12 weeks. Microneedling: first changes after 2–4 weeks, building over about 3 months.
Do I need sun protection?
After Nordlys laser/IPL, microneedling and DermaFacial, the skin is more sensitive to UV. Use SPF 50+ every morning and reapply during the day when outdoors. After laser or IPL, also avoid direct sun and solarium for 4 weeks.
Radiofrequency (Candela Matrix) does not make the skin light-sensitive. Still avoid direct sun on freshly treated skin for a few days and apply SPF 50 while any redness persists.
Which skincare can I use?
A mild cleanser and a soothing, fragrance-free moisturiser. For a few days, pause retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) and peels, unless we have advised otherwise.
What should I avoid?
For 2–3 days: sauna, steam baths, hot baths and strenuous exercise. Lukewarm showers and gentle movement are fine the same day.
Do supplements help?
Antioxidants can support skin regeneration. Vitamin C, about 2000–3000 mg a day for a few days after the treatment, may help; smokers in particular may need more.
Please check with your doctor first, especially if you have kidney disease or take medication.
