Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a treatment
I don't know which treatment I need. What should I do?
Start with the free initial assessment. We look at your skin and propose a plan based on what you want to change.
If you would like a deeper analysis, the Comprehensive Skin Assessment (about 30 minutes, CHF 250) adds an in-depth treatment plan; the fee is credited when you book a treatment within 30 days of the assessment.
The Préime Skin Analyser (CHF 100) is an optional device-based scan that gives an objective baseline (hydration, pores, pigmentation, redness, texture) and can be repeated to track progress.
What is the difference between laser, IPL, radiofrequency, and microneedling?
The studio operates three energy-based devices:
- Candela Nordlys: SWT IPL for post-inflammatory pigmentation, uneven skin tone, redness and couperose-type dilated capillaries; non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL, 1550 nm and 1940 nm) for resurfacing and scar texture
- Candela Matrix: radiofrequency, controlled heat at depth and independent of melanin — Sublime for tightening with no downtime, Sublative RF for acne scars, enlarged pores and fine lines
- Préime DermaFacial: radiofrequency, micro-current and ultrasound, combined with hydradermabrasion
Microneedling is a purely mechanical method for texture and overall skin quality at depths of less than 0.5 mm; on the scalp we use it as Hair Growth Microneedling for thinning hair.
Do you use ablative lasers such as CO₂?
No. There is no ablative device at the studio: no CO₂, no Er:YAG. Our laser resurfacing is non-ablative and fractional only; we work with the Nordlys NAFL applicators at 1550 nm and 1940 nm. In Switzerland, ablative lasers are reserved for physicians; non-ablative fractional systems are not.
An ablative laser removes the upper skin layers; a non-ablative fractional laser heats microscopic columns and leaves the surface between them closed. The correction comes from a planned series of sessions.
Do you treat every skin concern with laser?
No. We treat cosmetic concerns only, within the scope of our O-NIRSA certificates of competence (V-NISSG Sachkundenachweise).
We do not diagnose. Anything that could require medical evaluation — unusual pigmented lesions, active skin conditions, or unclear skin changes — we do not treat; we refer you to a medical doctor.
Certain indications are reserved for physicians:
- moles
- port-wine stains
- warts
- keloids
- melasma
- varicose and spider veins
When in doubt, medical assessment comes first.
Can you treat the area around the eyes?
No. We do not treat the eye area. Eyelids and the immediate orbital rim are reserved for physicians.
Facial treatments stop short of that zone. In line with the Swiss Ordinance on Non-Ionising Radiation and Sound (O-NIRSA / V-NISSG), energy-based treatments keep a safety distance of more than 10 mm from the eye.
The initial assessment records which areas are treated and which are not.
Are laser and IPL safe for darker skin tones?
Skin tone matters because laser and IPL devices target pigment in the skin. The wrong wavelength on darker phototypes (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) can cause burns or post-inflammatory pigmentation (dark marks left after the skin is irritated).
The Candela Nordlys is suitable for most lighter phototypes (Fitzpatrick I–III), with selected protocols for type IV. For darker phototypes we generally avoid IPL and recommend microneedling, DermaFacial or radiofrequency (Candela Matrix) instead; these work independently of melanin.
Your phototype is assessed at your first appointment before any laser or IPL session is planned.
Can I come tanned to my appointment?
No. Tanned or recently sun-exposed skin cannot be treated with laser or IPL; the risk of pigment change is too high. We ask for 2–4 weeks without sun, solarium or self-tanner before each session, and 4 weeks afterwards. Facials and microneedling are less restrictive but still benefit from rested skin.
Which laser do you use for scars?
The only laser we use on scars is the non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL) on the Candela Nordlys, with two applicators at 1550 nm and 1940 nm.
For acne scarring we may add Sublative RF on the Candela Matrix, or microneedling for scar texture. Neither is a laser. Sublative RF is fractional radiofrequency, microneedling a fine needle device.
Scar work usually runs as a series of three or more sessions, 4–6 weeks apart; the exact number depends on the applicator and the scar. Whether a scar is suitable for a non-ablative protocol is determined during the assessment.
Do you support thinning hair?
Hair Growth Microneedling applies the same microneedling principle on the scalp, combined with a ready-made topical serum (PDRN, optional exosomes) selected for your scalp.
Typically 4–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart, with maintenance afterwards. It is designed as cosmetic support for hair that looks thinner or weakened, for adults of all genders.
Are the treatments painful?
DermaFacial and gentle facials need neither numbing nor cooling. IPL feels like a brief rubber-band snap with each pulse; fractional laser is more intense. The Nordlys integrated cooling and a cooling cream before the session keep the sensation tolerable. Microneedling at these depths is well tolerated; for sensitive areas we cool more. With Matrix radiofrequency you feel controlled warmth, and with Sublative RF brief pinpoint impulses.
We do not use anaesthetic creams. If it becomes too uncomfortable, we adjust the protocol.
How long does a session take?
Plan for:
- DermaFacial: 45–60 minutes
- IPL: 30–45 minutes
- Fractional laser: 60–90 minutes, including preparation and cooling
- Microneedling: 60–75 minutes, including serum application and cooling
- Matrix radiofrequency: 20–45 minutes, depending on the applicator
- Hair Growth Microneedling: 10 minutes of treatment, allow 20
- Préime Skin Analyser: 15–20 minutes
- Comprehensive Skin Assessment: 30 minutes
The first appointment is longer because it begins with a skin assessment. Specific timings are confirmed when you book.
How long until I see results?
- Facials and DermaFacial: same-day hydration and clarity, improving further over 48–72 hours; texture and tone across a series of typically 4–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart, then monthly maintenance
- IPL: responses on post-inflammatory pigmentation and redness over 1–2 weeks
- Microneedling: initial changes at 2–4 weeks, building over about 3 months across a series of 3–6 sessions as collagen remodels
- Hair Growth Microneedling: 4–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart, cosmetic changes in how full the hair appears over 4–8 weeks
- Matrix radiofrequency: an initial tightening effect is often visible right away, new collagen builds over 4–12 weeks
Specific timelines depend on skin type and the protocol agreed at your assessment.
Can I combine multiple treatments in one series?
Most plans do.
Order and spacing matter. For example, IPL first to settle post-inflammatory pigmentation, then microneedling for texture, with DermaFacial sessions in between to maintain hydration.
We map the sequence during your assessment based on what you want to address and how your skin responds.
About the studio
Where is the studio located, and is there parking?
Schaffhauserstrasse 131, 4th floor, 8152 Glattbrugg. The building is a short walk from Glattbrugg train station.
There are three parking spaces behind the building, marked "PRIVAT", shared with the other tenants. Further parking is available at the nearby Denner, Coop and Migros supermarkets by the roundabout, a short walk away. Zurich Airport is about 7 minutes away by bus (lines 759/768, 2 stops).
Which languages do you speak?
English and Serbian fluently; German at a conversational level. Please tell us your preferred language when booking and we will plan accordingly. Formal and legal correspondence is handled in writing, in German or English only.
Who performs the treatments?
All treatments are performed personally by Branislav Lukić, with 12 years of hands-on experience. He holds the O-NIRSA certificates of competence (V-NISSG Sachkundenachweise) required for cosmetic laser, IPL and energy-based treatments.
One practitioner plans the protocol, performs the session and reviews the results; there is no rotation and no delegation. His training, congress work and Key Opinion Leader role are on the About Us page.
Who can book a treatment?
Our studio is open to all adults, regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, background or skin type. The protocol follows your skin and your goals.
Do you treat minors?
Adults from 18 are welcome for all treatments. Minors under 18 may be treated for concerns such as acne-prone or scarred skin, with the presence and written consent of a parent or legal guardian.
These treatments fall within the scope of Swiss V-NISSG, and we follow its requirements for documentation, consent and operator qualification. The same limits apply as for adults. Anything that could require medical evaluation belongs with a doctor.
Is the studio wheelchair accessible?
The studio is on the 4th floor and accessible by lift from the ground floor. The treatment rooms and waiting area are step-free once inside. Please let us know in advance if you need additional support and we will plan the visit with you.
How do you handle my personal data?
We process only the data needed to plan and deliver your treatments safely: contact details and an operational treatment record (treatments performed, device settings, products, date, practitioner). We do not share this data with third parties for marketing. Full details are in our Privacy policy.
What are your opening hours?
Treatments are by appointment only; there are no fixed opening hours. All appointments take place in our studio in Glattbrugg.
Branislav Lukić regularly attends international congresses and gives lectures and workshops for aesthetic professionals, and our schedule is built around that. Appointments are typically arranged about two weeks in advance.
Studio policies & safety
Can I bring my child or a companion to the appointment?
Out of respect for the privacy of other clients, it is best to come on your own. The waiting area is small (it seats no more than six), so please come without children, pets or anyone accompanying you.
What should I know about the waiting area?
The studio environment is kept calm during treatments. Please switch phones to silent on arrival and avoid games, music or videos with audible sound while you wait; short calls are best taken in the hallway.
Out of respect for our neighbours in the building, please keep voices low in the common areas as well.
Are refreshments available in the waiting area?
Yes. Drinking water and coffee are available in the waiting area. Please help yourself.
How do you ensure safety during laser treatments?
We take every reasonable measure to avoid unnecessary laser exposure for anyone who is not undergoing treatment. During the active laser passes, everyone present in the studio wears certified protective eyewear and the waiting-area door is briefly closed.
What hygiene standards do you follow?
All microneedling needle cartridges and any instrument that comes into contact with the skin are single-use and disposed of after each session. Treatment surfaces and laser handpieces are disinfected between every appointment, and linens are changed for each client.
Can I take photos or videos in the studio?
We ask you not to take photos or video in the studio and waiting area. Other clients are present and have a right to privacy during their visit. If you would like a photo of your own result or the space, please ask us and we will take it for you.
Booking & cancellation
How do I book an appointment?
Best by WhatsApp message or email; phone is also possible. Current contact details are on the Contact page. The first assessment takes place during your first appointment at the studio; no prior call is needed.
What is the cancellation and rescheduling window?
Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge up to 24 hours in advance. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a fee of up to 50 % of the service price. No-shows may be charged up to CHF 80.
Email is our official channel for cancellations. SMS or WhatsApp are accepted as a courtesy and are only effective once confirmed by us. To reschedule, use the same channel you used to book; we will offer the next available slot that fits your treatment plan. Full terms are in our Terms & Conditions.
What happens if I arrive late?
If you arrive late, you may need to wait until a gap opens in the schedule; out of respect for other clients we cannot run over into the next appointment. In some cases we may need to reschedule. A quick message on the way helps us adjust where possible.
Is a deposit required to book an appointment?
No. We do not request deposits for single appointments. We do ask for cancellations or rescheduling with at least 24 hours' notice (see our cancellation policy).
Multi-session cycles are the one exception. A cycle is paid in full when it is booked, at the cycle price.
Are same-day appointments or walk-ins possible?
Treatments are by appointment only. Every protocol requires preparation time, single-use materials and a clean setup. Please contact us in advance to book a slot.
Pricing & payment
Are prices per session or per package, and are there multi-session discounts?
Most prices are per session. Defined programmes are priced as a cycle quoted as a single programme total, for example Hair Growth Microneedling, available as a 4- or 6-session cycle.
Outside these cycles, pricing is per session and published per treatment. For other multi-session series we confirm the total at your assessment so you know the full cost upfront.
There is no standing multi-session discount. The cycle prices are already below the sum of their single sessions, and nothing else is discounted by volume.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Electronic payment (bank card or TWINT) is preferred. We accept cash as well. All payments are settled in Swiss Francs (CHF) only.
Are prices inclusive of VAT?
Yes. All prices include Swiss VAT at 8.1 %. The receipt itemises the VAT portion.
Are aesthetic treatments covered by Swiss health insurance?
Our treatments are aesthetic and cosmetic, not medical. Cosmetic treatments are not covered by Swiss health insurance, neither by basic insurance (KVG) nor by supplementary policies.
We do not bill health insurers and do not clarify coverage on your behalf.
Payment is settled at the studio after the treatment. You receive an itemised receipt for your records.
If your concern needs medical assessment, a physician is the right place to start. That includes any question about cost coverage.
Do you recommend or sell cosmetics, and do I have to buy products from you?
We stock the skincare and aftercare products that we use in our protocols, and we only suggest what fits your skin and the treatment plan we agree on.
There is no obligation to purchase. If you prefer to source the same actives elsewhere, please bring your current products or photos of the labels so we can check that they fit the protocol.
Do you offer refunds or guarantees on results?
Aesthetic treatments are protocols, not guaranteed outcomes; individual response depends on skin type, baseline condition, lifestyle and aftercare.
Completed sessions are not refunded. If a series is interrupted from our side, the unused sessions are credited or refunded.
Concerns about an in-progress series are reviewed in a follow-up assessment and the plan is adjusted at no additional cost.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
We do not sell gift vouchers to the public. Every treatment begins with an individual skin assessment, and not every protocol is suitable for every person, so committing a recipient to a specific treatment in advance would bypass that step. We do issue vouchers for existing clients on special occasions. Ask us if you have one in mind.
Before your treatment
What should I do (and avoid) in the days before my treatment?
In the week before laser, IPL or microneedling, pause:
- retinoids
- AHA and BHA exfoliants
- vitamin C serums
Avoid direct sun exposure and self-tanner for 2–4 weeks.
Skip waxing and depilatory creams 48 hours before; shaving is fine. Arrive well hydrated; clean skin without makeup is ideal.
Which medications and skin conditions do I need to disclose?
Please tell us about anticoagulants, recent isotretinoin (within the last 6–12 months), current antibiotics, active cold sores or acne flare-ups, and any photosensitising medication (e.g. certain antibiotics, diuretics or antidepressants).
Please also mention any known allergies, for example to skincare ingredients or latex.
None of these are automatic exclusions; they affect how we plan the protocol. We do not answer medical questions about your medication; please clarify those with your physician.
What should I bring and what should I wear?
Just yourself and clean skin; please avoid heavy makeup on arrival. The face is cleansed thoroughly before every treatment in any case. If you would like us to look at your current skincare, please bring the products with you, or photos of the labels.
Wear comfortable clothing; for facial treatments we secure your hair and protect your shoulders. For laser and IPL appointments on the face, please come with glasses rather than contact lenses. You wear eye protection during the session, and lenses are removed beforehand.
Which treatments are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
During pregnancy and breastfeeding we do not perform laser, IPL, radiofrequency (Matrix) or microneedling. Gentle facials and DermaFacial cleansing protocols remain available with adjusted product selection. Please mention pregnancy or breastfeeding when booking so we can plan accordingly.
How treatments work
How does microneedling work?
A fine needle device creates a controlled grid of micro-channels in the upper skin layers (Préime NanoTap or SkinPen, selected per protocol). As an aesthetic studio we work at depths of less than 0.5 mm. The skin reads this controlled stimulus as a signal to rebuild and produces collagen and elastin over the following weeks.
The micro-channels also act as temporary delivery routes. Active ingredients (PDRN, hyaluronic acid, optional exosomes) travel deeper through them than with surface care alone. The effect of each session builds over 8–12 weeks.
How does laser treatment work?
Laser treatment works on the principle of selective light absorption. A precise wavelength of light is absorbed by a specific target in the skin (pigment, blood vessels, water) and converted into heat. The surrounding tissue is spared.
On the Candela Nordlys we use SWT IPL, a filtered broad spectrum, for post-inflammatory pigmentation, uneven skin tone, redness and couperose-type dilated capillaries. The non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL) applicators at 1550 nm and 1940 nm cover resurfacing, scars and structural rejuvenation. The applicator and parameters are chosen for each protocol; the device's integrated cooling keeps the session comfortable.
What are exosomes?
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles, naturally occurring carriers of growth factors and signalling molecules that cells use to communicate. In our protocols, exosomes are applied to the skin as an add-on to microneedling while the micro-channels are open.
Clients who add exosomes often describe calmer recovery and a smoother finish. That is an observation from our studio, not a promised effect. Exosomes are an optional add-on and are not injected at our studio.
What are polynucleotides (PDRN)?
Polynucleotides (most commonly PDRN, polydeoxyribonucleotide) are purified DNA fragments, traditionally derived from salmon. They support fibroblast activity and hydration.
In our microneedling protocols, PDRN is applied to the skin while the micro-channels are open; it can support skin recovery. At our studio, PDRN is not injected.
Aftercare — Candela Matrix (radiofrequency)
How do I care for my skin after the Candela Matrix treatment?
We keep the key points after the radiofrequency treatment in a short note you can open on your phone. It is available in English, German and Serbian.
How long do redness and the feeling of warmth last?
After Sublime, mild redness and warmth usually settle within a few hours; there is no downtime. After Sublative RF, expect 1–3 days of mild redness; fine micro-crusts can appear and resolve on their own.
Please do not scratch or pick; the skin underneath is renewing.
Do I need to avoid the sun after radiofrequency?
Radiofrequency does not make the skin light-sensitive, so treatment is possible year-round. Still avoid direct sun on freshly treated skin for a few days, and apply SPF 50 while any redness persists.
When can I use sauna, hot baths, and exercise again?
Skip hot baths, sauna and strenuous exercise for 2–3 days. Lukewarm showers and gentle movement are fine the same day.
When can I wear makeup and use active ingredients again?
After Sublime, makeup is fine the same day. After Sublative RF, leave the skin makeup-free for at least 24 hours.
Pause retinol and exfoliating acids for 5–7 days; gentle cleansing and a fragrance-free moisturiser are fine throughout.
When should I contact you immediately?
Contact us if you notice blistering, weeping skin, sharply increasing pain, or signs of infection (spreading redness, warmth, pus). Mild redness, warmth and — after Sublative RF — fine micro-crusts are expected and do not require contact.
In a true medical emergency, please call 144.
Aftercare — Candela Nordlys (laser / IPL)
How do I care for my skin after a treatment?
We keep the key points after a laser or IPL treatment in a short note you can open on your phone. It is available in English, German and Serbian.
How long should I avoid the sun, and what SPF?
Avoid direct sun and solarium for 4 weeks after each session. SPF 50, applied every morning and reapplied during the day, is essential, both to protect your results and to prevent post-inflammatory pigmentation (dark marks after irritation).
This holds year-round in Switzerland, including overcast days and winter months.
When can I use sauna, hot showers, and exercise again?
Skip sauna, steam, hot showers, intense workouts and hot yoga for 2–3 days. Lukewarm showers and gentle movement are fine the same day.
Heat dilates the treated vessels and can prolong redness.
How long does the redness last?
Mild redness and a warm sensation are normal for a few hours, occasionally up to 24–48 hours. On sensitive areas (cheeks, neck, décolleté) it can last slightly longer. A cool compress and a fragrance-free moisturiser are usually all you need.
When should I contact you immediately?
Contact us if you notice blistering, weeping skin, sharply increasing pain after 24 hours, or any signs of infection (spreading redness, warmth, pus). Mild redness, tingling and slight swelling are expected and do not require contact.
In a true medical emergency, please call 144.
When can I swim in a pool or the sea again?
Wait until redness and any sensitivity have fully settled, usually 48–72 hours. Chlorinated pools, hot tubs and saltwater can irritate freshly treated skin. Once settled, normal swimming is fine; reapply SPF 50 on exposed areas.
Aftercare — DermaFacial / facials
How do I care for my skin after a DermaFacial?
We keep the key points after a DermaFacial in a short note you can open on your phone. It is available in English, German and Serbian.
Can I wear makeup the same day?
Light makeup is fine after about 6–8 hours, once the serums have absorbed; many clients leave the skin bare for the rest of the day. Use clean tools and a gentle removal routine in the evening.
Which skincare do you recommend in the first 24 hours?
For the first 24 hours keep it simple: gentle cleanser, the serums applied in the studio, fragrance-free moisturiser and SPF 50. Skip retinoids and acids that evening. From day two onwards your regular routine resumes.
When should I contact you immediately?
Contact us if you experience unexpected swelling beyond a few hours, breakouts that intensify rather than settle within a week, or any reaction that concerns you. A short purging phase (temporary breakouts as skin renewal accelerates) on acne-prone skin can occur and is not a cause for concern on its own.
In a true medical emergency, please call 144.
Aftercare — Microneedling
How do I care for my skin after microneedling?
We keep the key points after microneedling in a short note you can open on your phone. It is available in English, German and Serbian.
When can I wear makeup again?
Leave the skin makeup-free for 12–24 hours so it can close and recover. Mineral SPF and a fragrance-free moisturiser are fine the same day. From day two onwards, standard makeup is fine; use clean brushes and a fresh sponge.
Which skincare products are suitable in the first days?
For the first 3–5 days, keep the routine simple: gentle cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum, fragrance-free moisturiser, mineral SPF 50. Pause retinoids, vitamin C, AHA/BHA exfoliants and exfoliating tools. Avoid sheet masks with active ingredients during this window.
Is pinpoint bleeding normal?
Yes, it can happen. Fine pinpoint bleeding occurs occasionally during the session and stops quickly. As an aesthetic studio we work at depths of less than 0.5 mm, within the upper skin layers, where tiny blood vessels sit just below the surface.
Afterwards the skin looks flushed, similar to after a strong workout, and settles within a few hours.
When should I contact you immediately?
Contact us if redness intensifies after 48 hours instead of fading, if you see weeping, crusting beyond fine pinpoints, or any signs of infection. Mild tightness and flaking on days 2–4 are expected.
In a true medical emergency, please call 144.
When can I resume retinol, vitamin C, or exfoliating acids?
Reintroduce active ingredients gradually once the 3–5 day pause is over: vitamin C first, then exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), then retinoids, one at a time, every second evening. If the skin still feels sensitive, wait a few more days. SPF 50 continues regardless.
Note: All treatments are aesthetic in nature. For medical concerns, we refer you to a physician.
