Overview
The Candela Nordlys™ is a multi-applicator laser and IPL platform, clinically developed over two decades. It combines SWT® IPL — Selective Waveband Technology, targeted wavelengths with narrowband precision and ultra-short pulses — with two non-ablative fractional laser applicators (NAFL) at 1550 nm and 1940 nm. Both work with integrated SoftCool™ comfort technology.
The platform also enables the Lip Laser treatment: targeted non-ablative laser energy stimulates collagen production for fine lines and uneven texture on the lip area, without injections.

The Process
Skin Assessment & Protocol Selection
We assess your skin type, concerns, and goals, then select the applicator and the parameters.
Preparation & Protection
Your skin is cleansed and prepared. Protective eyewear is provided. A cooling gel may be applied to enhance comfort during the procedure.
Nordlys™ Treatment
The selected Nordlys™ applicator is applied to the treatment area, delivering light or laser pulses at the chosen settings. The integrated cooling system runs throughout. You may feel a mild warming or light snapping sensation.
Post-Treatment Soothing
A calming serum and SPF protection are applied to the treated area. Treated pigment marks may appear slightly darker initially; this is an expected response.
Aftercare & Follow-Up
You receive detailed aftercare instructions including sun protection guidance. We schedule your next session 3–4 weeks later. Most treatments are performed as an individually tailored 3-session series.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the treatment painful?
Expect a mild warm snap with each pulse, similar to a rubber band lightly flicking the skin. The Nordlys™ has an integrated cooling system that keeps things comfortable throughout.
How many sessions do I need?
Most treatments are performed as an individually tailored 3-session series. Post-inflammatory pigmentation often shows clear improvement after just 1–2 sessions. Vascular concerns, scars, and stretch marks may require the full series.
When will I see results?
Treated pigment marks typically darken within 24–48 hours, then gradually flake off over 1–2 weeks, revealing clearer skin beneath. Vascular improvements are often visible within days as redness diminishes. Collagen benefits typically build over 4–8 weeks.
Which visible vessels can be treated?
We treat superficially dilated capillaries in the face (telangiectasias typical of couperose), away from the eye area. We do not treat larger or deeper vessels, or discrete vascular lesions over 3 mm; for these we refer you to a medical specialist.
Is it safe for my skin type?
The Nordlys™ suits most lighter phototypes (Fitzpatrick I–III), with selected protocols for type IV. For darker phototypes we generally avoid IPL and recommend microneedling, DermaFacial® or radiofrequency instead. Your phototype is assessed before any laser or IPL session is planned.
Can I combine Nordlys™ with other procedures?
We offer recommended combinations: Nordlys™ + DermaFacial® and Nordlys™ + exosomes or the Préime PDRN Booster, a topical serum applied through microneedling (never injected).
Can Nordlys™ treat scars and stretch marks?
Yes. Nordlys™ treats various types of scars (acne, post-operative, traumatic) as well as stretch marks — exclusively with the non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL) at 1550 nm and 1940 nm. The targeted light energy stimulates collagen remodelling and tissue regeneration. Most scar and stretch-mark plans run as a 3-session series.
How does Lip Laser work?
Targeted laser energy is applied to the lip area to stimulate the body's own collagen production. Over the following weeks, natural collagen builds up and texture and contour improve. The procedure is non-invasive, with no injections. Most clients plan 3–4 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart.
What is the difference between laser and IPL?
A laser emits a single, focused wavelength; IPL uses a filtered broadband spectrum. The Nordlys™ platform offers both: SWT® IPL for post-inflammatory pigmentation, uneven skin tone, redness and couperose-type dilated capillaries, the non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL) applicators for resurfacing and scar texture. We choose the applicator based on your skin and your goal.
Can I wear makeup after the session?
We recommend leaving the skin bare until the next morning; it may feel slightly warm and appear reddened for the first evening. From the following day, light mineral makeup is fine. Fragrance-heavy products are best avoided for the first two days.
My skin broke out a few days after the treatment — is that normal?
Usually, yes. On congested or blemish-prone skin, a treatment that accelerates renewal can push existing micro-blockages to the surface: a short-lived crop of small blemishes that settles on its own within days. If it is painful, spreading, or still present after two weeks, please contact us.
Will the redness (couperose) come back?
Couperose is a recurring tendency, not a one-time blemish. Visible redness can gradually return; triggers such as sun, heat, alcohol, and stress play a role. A treatment series can visibly reduce the redness; a maintenance session every 12–18 months helps preserve the result, and avoiding your personal triggers stretches the interval. We do not promise a permanent result.
